It’s been great to see so many views on my first two posts, so I thought I’d dive straight into a new post – you might call it ‘new blogger’s enthusiasm’!!
I often spend hours on YouTube watching videos of people doing ridiculously dangerous sports and defying all expectations. Why do they do it? Whether it’s for the sheer adrenaline or not, it’s fascinating and inspiring to watch.
So here are 5 of my favourite extreme sports that you may or may not have heard of:
#1 – Volcano Boarding
If you’ve ever fancied racing down an active 2,380 ft volcano up to 80 mph on only a board, then volcano boarding is just the thrill ride for you. Thousands flock each year to Nicaragua’s Cerro Negro mountain to do just that. The concept sounds easy enough to grasp, that is until you start hitting sharp volcano rocks!

#2 – Ski BASE Jumping
Many people like myself enjoy skiing, but few of us have ever taken it to quite this level. Ski BASE jumping involves jumping off a base structure (in this case a mountain) and using a parachute to ‘break your fall’. This is an incredibly dangerous feat only for the hardened thrill seeker.

#3 – Free Soloing
Thanks to the exploits of Alain Robert, many people have now become familiarised with the art of ‘free solo climbing’. As if rock climbing wasn’t difficult enough already, free solo climbers have no rope and have to support all of their own weight. Concentration is absolutely key – one wrong move and you’re gone!

#4 – Creeking
Again, here’s an example of thrill seekers turning a normal activity (i.e. whitewater kayaking) into an extreme pursuit. Thanks to more durable kayaks created in the 1980s, ‘creekers’ can now throw themselves off higher & higher waterfalls, plunging into the rocks and water below in the name of adrenaline.

#5 – Crocodile Bungee
The Aussies have decided that normal bungee jumping just doesn’t cut it when it comes to thrills. So they’ve decided to add an extra dimension to their jumps – a croc infested area of water!! The chances of hitting a croc in the water are slim but it’s still a highly dangerous endeavour.

So this is the part where I say thanks again for reading my post and don’t try any of these at home!!
